Laser weapons should look more like those in Buck Rogers

Hi everyone, my name is Joel. This is my first post & I hope I've picked the right forum for this. If not, feel free to move it. Anyway it dawned on me that the laser weapons should look more like those from Buck Rogers in the 25th century if you take the standard SEU clip in to account. The illustration given in the alpha dawn basic game book is elegant but doesn't fit in with the concept of an SEU clip being the size of a cigarette pack. You would only have one of three places to put the clip, on the bottom in front of the trigger guard or to either side roughly in the same general area. It would be more expedient to place it on the bottom though as it could be sold to a person of either handedness with one basic design. Otherwise a right handed person would have to buy one with the clip well on the bottom or the right side. Same for a left. handed person only it would have to be bottom or on the left. This is so because it wouldn't fit into a holster with the clip side facing toward the body. I suppose the holster could be made to stand out away from the body several inches but this would seem to be both uncomfortable & impractical. All of this would equally apply to all energy weapons that took a standard SEU power clip.
