Jaws as a Wargame

Kids and I played Knight Hawks yesterday and later we discussed a movie to watch with pizza which inevitably meant Jaws being mentioned- my kids love Jaws.

Idea emerged: Jaws as a table top wargame? I had played in something similar at Historicon which was Moby Dick as a war game- each player had a whaling long boat and the whale was diced as to where he would appear and whether it was just the tail, hump or whole head out of water. The guy had sculpted the three piece of whale- it was cool. I missed out on landing a harpoon and having my boat go for a Nantucket sleigh ride.

So basic evolving idea is this: typical wargaming table is 4'x'8 layout a blue cloth with marks along the edges to identify 6 or 8 sections of the table top either 2 rows of three or 2 rows of four. In one section will be aminty island (not to scale) and in another is seal rocks the rest of the sections are open sea.

Each player will have a boat (Possibly 25mm scale with 1, 2, or 3 figures) boats will have stats most have motors that let them move one table section in a turn but one or two might be faster moving 2 sections but other liabilities will come into play for those boats.

dice and card mechanics Players will have 3 cards: things like chum that they can play on themselves or fouled propeller, bent propeller shaft, coast guard inspection, etc that they can play on other players

Dice mechanic for sharks showing up and in what section. Tiger, bull, great white etc. Battle with sharks is diced but details about your boat, cards recently played and crew on board can all impact the dice roll

going to amity island and not fishing allows for card from island deck to be drawn, make repairs, (cards like bent propeller shaft will require repairs which could be done by a crew member who is a diver or at amity if you call for tow. Also Jaws is not above damaging a boat).

Jaws will be able to eat crew and smash boats it will take harpooning him with 3 or more barrels to bring him down. Wont matter who put the barrels on him.

Thats the basis I came up with.
