Formlabs Form 2 Fun

We just got a new resin printer for the EE Lab at work.  So, I decided to print one of Dutchmogul's cool figures as a test print.  See: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:301719<br /><br />The main photo shows the finished print with the raft and supports.  The printer prints up-side-down.  The resin is in a bath and the build plate is dipped into it to 0.1mm from the bottom.  Then a laser cures the resin trapped in that 0.1mm between the bottom of the bath and the build plate.  Subsequent layers are made by moving the build plate up 0.1mm and then the laser cures another layer.  Note: 0.1mm is the low resolution of this printer.  High resolution is something like 0.025mm per layer.<br /><br />I am impressed with the detail of this printer at 0.1mm.  We have FDM printers that print ABS and PLA filament and they cannot touch this level of detail at their highest resolution of 0.1mm.  Also compare the resolution and detail to cast white metal mini's in the second picture in the above link.  The mini on the left is a new Mutant Simian (that looks very much like a yazirian) by Damon Richardson.  The mini on the right is a vintage TSR yazirian.
