Media in the Frontier | Star Frontiers

Because I was bored, I made up some media companies and programs/franchises. A couple I posted to Malcadon's wiki. Most are only here (at least for now). There is no order to any of these, I just did them as they came to me:

Intersystem News Service (INS) is one of several media conglomerates
active in the Frontier.[1] It is owned by the vrusk business man
K'zik Z'ken K'zrr. Observers have noted that its news coverage tends
to favor the interests of holders of capital in genaeral and the
megacorporations in particular. Its editorial policy is much less
subtle. The Local Rights Alliance gets a great deal of positive press
from INS.

is sometimes verbally confused with rival, the Inter-Stellar
Network. The two have very different editorial policies and
reputations, however. INS generates a great deal of publicity for
itself by accusing ISN of political and social bias on occasion.

Inter-Stellar Network (ISN) is a Holonet news and education channel
in the Frontier. Its programming includes both breaking news and more
in-depth programs analyzing current events. The network also produces
a series of popular documentary programs concerning historical events
and famous individuals. ISN has a reputation for attempting to be as
impartial as possible, though it is frequently accused of bias by
it's rival, the Intersystem News Service.[1]

Eye
of the Frontier is a popular Holonet program in the Frontier. Its
reporting includes topical cultural news, profiles of popular
celebrities, and independent investigations into scandals and
controversial topics/events. One recent investigation involved
charges of Streel Corporation using what amounted to slave labor for
it's agricultural operations on Corpco. 

The
Discussion Network (TDN) is a channel devoted to replaying recently
recorded Dralasite debates and producing dramatizations of historical
ones.
Celebrity
is an electronic magazine devoted to news of pop-culture figures with
an emphasis on their personal lives and scandals. It is published by
an arm of the Intersystem News Service media conglomerate.
Proceedings
(formally The Proceedings of the Clarion Royal Society of Astonomers)
is an electronic magazine devoted to the lastest news and information
in astronomy and astrophysics. For an article or paper to be
published in Proceedings is considered a mark of distinction.
To
the Stars is a long-running action/adventure holoprogram series
featuring the adventures of a fictionalized Spacefleet vessel under
the command of human Jamison O'Cuirce, his vrusk Sensor Officer Zs'k,
and dralasite Chief Medical Officer Mocoy.
Tetrarch's
Legacy is a science-fiction holoprogram about a team of Landfleet
soldiers and scientists exploring the galaxy using a network of
transportation devices left behind after the disappearance of the
Tetrarch Societies. Some conspiracy theorists claim that the program
is based on real events, a claim that is dismissed by Landfleet's PR
office.
Sathar
Love Slave, Parts 1 through 5 (and counting) Banned on several UPF
worlds. 'Nuff said.
Buccaneers
of the Xagyg Nebula comedy/action holofilm series and a store franchise that got invented in my gameThermal Subject boutique popular with young sapients under 20. Features pop culture paraphenelia and trendy clothing. Particularly popular is it's line of Spacer apparell and other "edgy" clothing. Real spacers can spot a "sposer" (spacer poser) rather easily. Their attire is too nice, even when "distressed". I make no apologies for shameless homages and "rip offs", that's just the way I am sometimes. I don't take credit for the last one though, one of my players came up with that one.
