I'm planning to use W-Y and the Aliens universe (which I include Avatar in) as part of my campaign background. I posit that that Earth is the human homeworld in the Frontiers version of the galaxy. I posit that since no one knows what happened to the Earth/human homeworld, that it might have been overrun (as seemed to be happening) by the Xenomorphs, thus explaining why contact was lost.<br /><br />I also posit that at least a few people at W-Y back then saw the inevitable coming, and "bugged out" (excuse the pun) before it all fell apart and migrated to the Frontier, where they set up the "new" W-Y. While they couldn't bring with or sustain all the more advanced tech, such as the secret of AG fields, they brought enough to make the Company the functional equivalent of PGC (as in being ubiquitous) until PGC grew large enough and took the "top dog" spot from them.<br /><br />Here's my write up about what is currently known in public about W-Y (not 100% finished, but almost):<br /><b><br />Weyland-Yutani </b><span style="font-weight: normal">is
a mystery. </span>No one is sure just how old it truly is. Any
records that might say have been lost (some say deliberately). It
has been around as long as any alive can remember, and was the PGC of
the Frontier before PGC came into existence.
<p style="font-style: normal">After the creation of PGC, W-Y began a
long slide into obscurity. It still exists and has it's fingers in
multiple markets and fields of endeavor, but is no longer considered
a leading example of Frontier corporate operations. Often seen as a
“budget option” vs the services of larger corporations when it
comes to providing services, it has embraced down-market business to
survive. Nonetheless, W-Y remains a powerful mega-corporation.</p>
<p style="font-style: normal">It's slogan (<i>“Building Better
Worlds”</i>) would seem to indicate an interest in terraforming
operations, but it has never shown itself to have access to that sort
of technology. It is rumored also that W-Y has a strong interest in
xenobiology, and has a relationship with the Planetary Survey
Administration and Fleet Expeditionary Force.</p>
