be a major power is to be capable of producing your own weapons.<span> </span>Those nations with that capability consider
it a matter of national security to retain it as it affords them a level of
security and helps ensure their independence.<span>
</span>Generally a nation will give preferential treatment to its own companies
and factories to ensure that the knowledge base and capability to produce
assorted weaponry remains safely within its home territory.<span> </span>There are countless real world examples both
present day and historically so there is no need to get into specific examples
and potentially get sidetracked.<span> </span>The
point is, nations deem the ability to produce weapons to be one of their
highest priorities.<o:o:o:p></o:o:o:p></font></font></p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">
</font><p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3"><font face="Calibri">How do you think this relates to the Frontier?<span> </span>Should every planetary government have its
own proprietary weapon producing capability? Should each race? Do you think Dralasite
planets would be content to rely on weapons supplied by a Yazarian company? As
Human, how would you feel about depending on the Vrusk for your defense?<br /><o:o:o:p><br />What about flag carriers, e.g. Pan Am, British Airways, Aeroflot, Lufthansa, to ensure access to distant planets on the frontier?<br /><br />Are there other industries that a planet or race would consider vital to its survival?<br /><br /></o:o:o:p></font></font></p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">
