Binary Stars?

Hey everyone. <br /><br />What's the deal with Binary Stars? I don't see any canon module settings in a binary system. The only time I hear anything about them is in homebrew situations. Are they death to ships? Can you jump near them or to them without issues? Can they have habitably planets in their systems?
