I have been thinking about the different ages throughout the Frontier and the different ages of science fiction to help get the feel for each time period, and to help establish the sort stuff you would find with each of them.

That is, The Age of Discovery - as noted in the Zeb book - is an early period of space exploration, where many fortunes are made, and many expeditions lost... I imagine this era like Forbidden Planet and Lost in Space, with cramped submarine-like interiors, crude instruments, slide rulers, and chrome-silver everything!

I see the default Sathar War era styled like Star Wars, Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica, with flashy outfits and styles you'll find in the late 70s/early 80s, and spaceships with a good amount of interior space and plenty of greeble on the hull.

I see the post-Sathar War era as a time of greater expansion, with the discovery and settlement beyond the established setting. I see this era like what you see in the d20 Future book, with larger ships, more diverse races, and a more modern look to everything - kinda like what you'll see in an anime (like Gundam, and Legends of Galactic Heroes).

There might be other eras I'm overlooking, but this is a good basic list of examples. Of all of them, I find the pre-established era the more intriguing, as the risks are high, there are a lot to discover, and most of all I like that retro style. I also like the idea as it make the game less static with the settled systems and available technology.
