Earlier this year in a PBP game I considered having my character get a shot of stim dose to justify his long active hours in game but discarded the idea as I thought the GM would disallow it saying, "Thats not how you use stim dose." It wasn't like it really was going to have an impact on the game as there didn't seem to be a penalty for not sleeping. <br /><br />I've been kicking around this idea for months now- allow characters (PC & NPC alike) to use stim dose in situations where they have to fore go sleep to stave off the effects of drosiness and remain active past their bed time. After all if the drug can wake the dead (so to speak) then why not this effect on a healthy body? The idea here is just to propose a new use for an old drug. <br /><br />Currently, according to the rules, Stim dose can restore 10 STA lost becasue of poison or disease and wake and unconscious or stunned character and if more than one dose is given in a 20 hour period the second is of no effect. <br /><br />Its really just a small thing to allow this extra capability, (maybe a bit of background fluff can be written to describe stim addiction- players recognize a NPC as suffering from stim addiction and bribe him with offer of a stim dose to get the info they desire from him)<br /><br />If for any reason a character has 3 or more shots of stim dose in a week (and for every subsequent dose in that week) they roll d100 to see if they become addicted the chance is 10% per shot of stim dose minus PER score (or 1/2 PER?) Results of stim addiction: must have a stim dose every day to just get going otherwise they are -5 STR and -5 RS otherwise if they do get their stim dose they have -5 Dex and +5 RS<br />My resoning on those penalties is to try to simulate a character with low energy and pep without stim dose and kind of shaky or twitchy while on it. If a character goes 1 week (or 2 weeks) cold turkey from stim dose (suffering the above penalty the whole time) it works itself out of their system. There may be an option to go to rehab for 3 days and get their body flushed.<br /><br />Thouhgts?<br />
